The political situation continues to be fluid in Kenya right now. A commemoration of the "Saba Saba" uprising (a key moment in the history of resistance to the dictatorship of president Moi) on July 7th 2004, saw the shooting of 11 protestors in the city of Kisumu (one was killed, the rest are in hospital). This came on the heels of a massive state repression of a July 3rd 2004 pro-constitution rally in Uhuru Park in downtown Nairobi. Meanwhile, the Kibaki government is being rocked by corruption scandals, and proponents of the new constitution are organizing mass rallies for later in this month.
The following resource page with video, audio, text, and photographic materials has been developed by members of the A&S web crew to highlight these and other political struggles currently taking place in Kenya.
